Ingredients

  • 1 ¼ cups heavy whipping cream very cold for best volume
  • cup powdered sugar sifted to avoid lumps
  • cup plain Greek yogurt or vanilla yogurt for extra sweetness
  • 1 ¼ cups shredded sweetened coconut loosely packed
  • 14 ounces mandarin oranges drained (patted dry to prevent excess liquid)
  • 10 ounces pineapple tidbits drained (juice fully removed)
  • 1 ¼ cups maraschino cherries drained (halved if large)
  • 2 cups mini fruit-flavored marshmallows fresh and soft

Method

  1. Pour the cold whipping cream into a large bowl or stand mixer and beat until slightly thickened.
  2. Gradually sprinkle in the powdered sugar while continuing to beat until firm peaks form.
  3. Gently fold the yogurt into the whipped cream until smooth and evenly combined.
  4. Thoroughly drain all canned fruit, then place the fruit, coconut, cherries, and marshmallows into a large serving bowl.
“Top-down food photography of a large white mixing bowl with ambrosia salad ingredients: whipped cream, mandarin orange segments, pineapple chunks, and maraschino cherries, natural soft light, clean marble background, minimal styling, high detail, realistic food texture, blog-style food photo”
  5. Carefully fold the whipped cream mixture into the fruit until everything is coated without deflating the cream.
“Overhead shot of a white bowl filled with ambrosia salad ingredients including mini pastel marshmallows, shredded coconut, maraschino cherries, whipped cream, and fruit, rustic spoon inside bowl, bright natural lighting, cozy homemade dessert aesthetic, high-resolution food photography”
  6. Cover and refrigerate the salad for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

This old-fashioned ambrosia brings back potluck memories and sunny family gatherings. Light, creamy, and bursting with fruit, it’s the kind of dish that disappears fast and gets requested again and again.
